Interested in becoming a foster home?
Experienced foster homes are always needed to help provide our hospice and special needs ferrets with a home environment and the one on one attention they desperately crave.
What is a foster home?
A foster home undergoes the same application and screening process as our adoptive homes, but Five Points Ferret refuge retains ownership of the ferrets. Because the refuge retains ownership, there is no adoption fee for fostering!
What ferrets are eligible for our foster program?
Some ferrets surrended to the refuge have hospice or medical needs that make them unsuitable for traditional adoption. These ferrets are just as deserving of the love and one on one attention of an adoptive home, so we seek out foster homes for these special ferrets.
Who is eligible to foster?
Because of the medical/hospice nature of many of our foster ferrets, potential foster homes must live close enough to the refuge in order to easily transport their fosters back and forth for their veterinary appointments. Foster parents must also be comfortable administering oral medications and evaluating the general health and well being of their fosters on a daily basis.
